My mother strongly influenced me growing up and taught me not to write in books. Books are special. While my father seemed to fill most of his books with highlighters.
It's rare for me to make any marks in books. But I have been reading The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman, and some of the sentences have spoken to me so strongly that I could not help but underline them.
