Work Shift

I wonder what it must be like to have a full time job that is 8 hours a day and five days a week.
What would I do with all of my free time?
Would I go home feeling like I have not accomplished enough?
Unfortunately, my current job rarely allows me to leave each day before my 10 hour mark, and the jobs that I want later on in life will require me to invest much more than just 8 hours a day.
It would be nice to have time for a hobby.

Hotel Choices

I don't stay in hotels too often.
So when I do I put a lot of effort into choosing one that I can afford and that is different.
If I'm paying money for somewhere special to stay I don't want it to be dreary.
I spend lots of time on travel sites.. TripAdvisor mostly, looking at photos.
I look for nice showers and flat TV's
But the thing that matters the most to me is that the pillows are above the blankets when the bed is made.
I think that if a hotel hides the pillows below the blankets they are hiding them, and must not be proud of them.
Much of my time in a hotel room is spent sleeping, so a pillow is important. If they want me to visit they should let me see where I am going to rest my head while I am there.

Writing in a book

My mother strongly influenced me growing up and taught me not to write in books. Books are special. While my father seemed to fill most of his books with highlighters.
It's rare for me to make any marks in books. But I have been reading The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman, and some of the sentences have spoken to me so strongly that I could not help but underline them.
Sorry mom.

To those upset with the loss of USAF Tuition Assistance

ALCON,

The Air Force has currently stopped funding the Tuition Assistance program.
This program was set in place for Airmen to take college courses in their free time to work towards a degree while on Active Duty.
Tuition Assistance was program that was separate from the Montgomery GI Bill and the Post 9/11 GI Bill, both of which where typically used after a Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine has separated from the service.

To those of you complaining that you are no longer able to take classes for free: Welcome to the real world.
You are huge winers.
Large sections of the Air Force have jobs that do not allow them the time for taking classes. They rarely even get lunch breaks. Who are these people? These are your Security Forces, your services that work all times and days of the week, and especially your flight-line maintainers who not only work long hours, but those hours can change violently from week to week and often without any notice.

So stop complaining that you can no longer take free classes while on Active Duty Status by using the Tuition Assistance Program.
It seems very few of you have bothered to consider scholarships or grants.
The Tuition Assistance program was a privilege. Just like free busses, and cable television at your work center, it's disposable.

I'm not complaining about the loss of something I haven't had the opportunity to use.
Be happy you had that opportunity.

But now our government is finally starting to realize that it actually doesn't have the money for everything it is buying.
I would rather give up Tuition Assistance than run our country even deeper in debt.

Stop sounding like a spoiled brat and continue to enjoy the highest standard of living of all the U.S. military branches.

Walking

I walked past a store last night on my way home. The store speakers were playing "Isn't She Lovely". And I thought, "yes".

Photography Style

I consider myself a Narrative Portrait Photographer.
So I get confused when someone asks me to do non-narrative portrait photography.
I doubt Ansel Adams was ever asked to photograph a wedding.
